FAMILY

Our Family Law services are provided in strict accordance with the Family Legal Services Provider (FLSP) scope authorized by the Law Society of Ontario. We focus on process navigation, document preparation, and representation in clearly defined family law matters. We also working collaboratively with family law lawyers if/when a matter moves beyond our paralegal scope. This ensures continuity, cost-efficiency, and consistent advocacy for our clients.

Our role is to reduce complexity, delay, and stress, while helping clients move their family law matters forward in a lawful, ethical, and practical way.

Our Approach

Family law matters are often emotionally and procedurally overwhelming. We help clients by:

  • explaining the Family Court process in plain language;

  • preparing accurate, compliant Court documents;

  • navigating filing, service, and procedural steps;

  • representing clients where permitted by law; and

  • coordinating a hybrid process with or referrals to, family law lawyers, without disruption, if a matter falls outside the FLSP allowable scope of practice;

This team-based approach allows clients comfort in knowing they have consistent advocacy and ensuring their matter remains on track.

Family Court Process Navigation

We assist clients by navigating the family court system. Providing clear guidance to clients reduces delays, rejected filings, and unnecessary adjournments and/or Court appearances.

Change of Name Applications

We assist adults with the change of name process. We streamline preparation and Court navigation, avoiding the cost of full litigation services.

Joint or Uncontested Divorces (Divorce Only)

We assist with joint or uncontested Divorce Applications as a cost-effective, efficient alternative to full lawyer representation.

Filing Domestic Contracts for Enforcement

We assist with filing completed domestic contracts with the Court.  Filing these documents can ensure enforceability through the Family Responsibility Unit (FRO).

Enforcement Proceedings (FRO)

We assist payors with enforcement-related matters involving FRO, under the Family Responsibility and Support Arrears Enforcement Act. We offer practical advocacy aimed at compliance, resolution, and avoiding escalation.

Motions to Change Child Support

We assist with motions to change child support where the child support is based on the table amount under the Child Support Guidelines, the child(ren) are under the age of majority, both parties ordinarily reside in Canada, the payor is not self-employed, earns less than $150,000 per year, and has no income outside Canada, and payor's income can be determined solely using their T4 and line 15000 of the T1 General.

Our services offer targeted representation for straightforward income-based changes while avoiding the cost associated with complex litigation.

What sets us apart?

Family law matters can be constantly evolving. If a dispute becomes contentious or falls outside our FLSP scope, we work collaboratively with family law lawyers to ensure seamless hybrid experience (or a seamless transition of representation), preservation of procedural progress, continuity of factual and document history, and minimal (if any) disruption to your matter.  This approach allows our clients to benefit from a team-based approach that respects legal boundaries while continuing to prioritize efficiency and consistency.

Matters Outside Our Scope

Do the the FLSP limited scope, we cannot provide services involving:

  • decision-making/access (custody) disputes;

  • contested divorces;

  • annulments and/or severance of divorce;

  • complex child support calculations or deviations from the Guidelines;

  • drafting and/or challenging domestic contracts; or

  • legal advice or strategy beyond the FLSP roadmap.

Where appropriate, we provide a hybrid approach or referrals to qualified family law lawyers.
